  • Intelligent Mobility (IM) Accelerator programme aims to develop and support innovative businesses within the UK transport supply chain
  • Programme is run by Wayra, a global accelerator for digital business and part of the Telefónica Group
  • Programme includes Connected Places Catapult, Amey and Hyundia
  • Initiative will give Focus Sensors access to insight and networking across the intelligent mobility ecosystem

Following a number of successful pitches to experts in the IM sector, Focus Sensors was selected to join a cohort of technology companies on the Wayra Intelligent Mobility (IM) Accelerator.

Wayra UK runs the Intelligent Mobility Accelerator with Telefónica (O2), Hyundai, and Amey. The programme is also a close collaboration with the Connected Places Catapult, which is part of a UK-government-supported network of elite technology and innovation centres.

The last four cohorts have: raised $250M+, completed 30 commercial trials facilitated through the programme, negotiated four resell contracts with Telefónica / O2 and 72% of companies developed international operations as a result of joining the programme.

Wayra connects Telefónica and corporate partners to technological disruptors around the world. Wayra is present in 7 hubs with activity in 10 countries in Europe and Latin America, with a clear objective: help start-ups to scale. Wayra offers a unique and smooth interface between entrepreneurs and our network of corporates, governments and other partners, adding value to the ecosystems where we are present.

As a pioneer in corporate innovation, we understand that all companies face two choices: disrupt or be disrupted. We believe that corporates can reinvent themselves by standing shoulder to shoulder with entrepreneurs worldwide and scale them to fulfil their digital transformation. We are leaders in bringing corporations and start-ups together to generate joint business opportunities.

Ed Austin, MD at Focus Sensors, says: “As a world-leading developer of distributed acoustic sensing technology, we are already experiencing great customer engagement with the benefits of our advanced data collection system and platform. The support from Wayra UK’s programme will help us to accelerate this success as we roll-out our innovative technology. We look forward to working with the programme to extend our reach into wider networks and gain valuable insights and expertise.”
